Going green can increase bottom line
Companies keen on reducing their energy consumption and increasing their bottom line should consider investing in intelligent lighting systems as well as energy-saving products.
According to technology expert and business advice firm CDW Canada, commercial and industrial units should remove fluorescent lighting and instead install LED lights.
In an article in the Bugle Observer, Daniel Reio, the company's senior manager of marketing, said that LED lights consume "just one-tenth of the power draw of a traditional light and equate to a 20 per cent longer life cycle".
The company urged businesses to also invest in motion-sensing lighting systems, which can "potentially save hundreds of dollars per year" by turning on lights only when there is somebody in the room.
Mr Reio said that "today, more than ever, businesses need to focus on lowering energy costs while increasing the life of their technology" by implementing simple conservation measures.
Such energy-saving tips can result in the emergence of more business opportunities for those keen on helping others go green.
