Enigin Updates - Energy Audits Lead to Energy Savings
BRUNEI business leaders and decision makers have been learning how to save energy, money and the environment through energy audits and energy management.
Brunei's Director of Electrical Services, Hj Jamain Hj Julaihi, highlighted during the Promotion of Energy Efficiency and Conservation seminar-workshop that energy audits on buildings identify areas where energy consumption and wastage can be reduced, lowering a facilities carbon footprint.
"The accumulated result and recommendations from the energy audit could assist an organisation in developing effective strategies or measures to reduce their energy consumption and improve energy efficiency or reduce carbon footprint of their respective buildings," said Hj Jamain.
Delivering the opening statement at the seminar in Darussalam, Hj Jamain explained that energy audits could be carried out as a "simple walk-through survey" or through the installation of a "building energy management system". A combination of both of course can produce dramatic energy savings.
Enigin Distributors are already helping businesses and organisations to save money through energy savings by using audits and the powerful real-time energy management system from Enigin, Eniscope, which provides energy data to augment audits, help awareness and energy management.
Hj Jamain said a walk-through survey identifying energy-consuming equipment or appliances and assessing their daily operating consumption, would help "exercise our mindset and habits to instil energy conservation awareness at no cost or low costs."
"Previous energy audit exercises have proven that a minimum of 10 per cent electricity consumption reduction can easily be achieved," he added.
Brunei is trying to raise awareness of energy efficiency and the reduction of greenhouse gases on the back of very low energy costs for all consumers throughout the country, taking away one of the major motivating factors for energy saving efforts - increasing energy costs are beginning to bite in Brunei.
