Enigin Update - US Industry Propose GHG and Energy Efficiency Policy

THE Industrial Energy Consumers of America (IECA) have released a report claiming that a package of amendments to the USA’a Clean Air Act, along with financial incentives for energy efficiency investments, would reduce energy related green house gas (GHG) emissions by 13 percent by 2020, relative to baseline conditions.

Parts of the suggested extensive package include a 30 percent tax credit for any and all capital investments that improve energy efficiency and GHG reductions. This is suggested to provide a strong incentive for manufacturers to invest in energy efficiency enhancing projects, which will also improve the competitiveness of US manufacturers through reduced costs.

They also call for low-cost public loans for efficiency and GHG reduction investments by manufacturing, plus an enhanced building efficiency standard, along with “early action” crediting of GHG reduction projects that can be applied towards future GHG regulation.

Regarding enhanced building energy efficiency, the reports wants to see a strengthened building standard to improve energy efficiency in new and existing commercial buildings and homes, using available cost-effective technologies to reduce the cost of energy resulting in a stronger economy.

Enigin Distributors across the US are in the ideal position to help out local manufacturers and industry to begin to save money through reducing energy use and GHG by managing their energy use in real-time.
