Enigin Update - Uganda turns to Energy Efficiency and Renewables
UGANDA’S Government is looking to energy efficiency and renewables to overcome inconsistent energy supply, enforced load shedding and ever increasing energy prices.
Irene Muloni, Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, said during the opening of the Energy Efficiency exhibition in Mbale (Eastern Uganda) that the, "Government is aware that Ugandans are finding it hard to run their businesses amidst high costs of power on top of it causing obstacles for development.
"It is imperative therefore that Ugandans should collaborate on mechanisms to initiate energy saving means and implement them for Ugandans to continue with their activities."
Muloni added: "Load shedding will be reduced with the release of the 50MW from Bujagali power plant by late November and saving the available energy by all other users at the same time.....We are implementing the promotion of renewable and efficient energy.”
Peter Lokeris, State Minister for Minerals, explained energy efficiency is vital: "The cost of producing energy is high therefore it is cheaper to save a unit of electricity than generating it by other means."
Enigin Distributors in Uganda, and globally, have the ideal technology and systems from Enigin to enable industry, commerce and the public sector to gain control of their energy use and spend, using only the energy needed and where it is needed. This also reduces demand on the national power grid.
