Enigin Update - Thailand Funding to Improve Post Flood Energy Efficiency

THE Thai government has earmarked 1.55 billion baht ($50,309,901) in grants and loans for businesses who participate in energy-saving efficiency enhancement programmes, so reports the Bangkok Post.

Thailand has suffered from severe flooding since July, most significantly in the Chao Phraya but also in the Mekong River basin, affecting over 2.3 million people. The Thai government are now looking, through this facility, to enable the rebuilding of the country with improved energy efficient businesses and industries.

The Bangkok Post reports that the money has been allocated largely from the Thailand Energy Conservation Fund, with machinery and other equipment used in production such as motors, chillers and boilers as the main target for improved energy efficiency, as they consume huge volumes of energy.

The paper reports that the deputy director-general of the Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency Department, Twarath Sutabutr, said this is an ideal opportunity for all the small and medium-sized enterprises with flood-damaged machinery and equipment to replace them with more efficient units.

The director-general Krairit Nilkuha told the paper: "We must encourage them to change out their equipment for the sake of energy-saving and efficiency. This will change crisis into an opportunity to save on production costs."

550 million baht ($17,851,900) of the total is slated for flood-damaged state agencies that agree to improve their buildings energy efficiency.

Enigin Distributors have the ideal solution with Enigin plc's EnergyMaps programme and related energy efficiency products, such as iMEC (Intelligent Motor Energy Controllers), to produce energy savings for businesses and organisations of all sizes and types - reducing costs and greenhouse gas emissions.
