Enigin Update - States Reach Record Energy Efficiency Investments Levels
BUDGET for energy efficiency programmes across the USA reached a record level of $6.8 billion in 2011 - a 25 percent increase over 2010, so writes Joe Romm on Climate Progress.
The record amount was due to an increasing in the number of improved energy efficiency standards across many states, writes Romm. He also reveals that according to report by the Institute for Energy Efficiency, this puts the country in line to invest around £12 billion annually by 2020.
The actual amount of energy saved for 2011 is still waiting to be finalised, but IEE’s report claims that energy efficiency efforts in 2010 saved 112 terawatt-hours of electricity, equivalent to the energy used in over 9.7 million homes in the U.S.
Romm explains that the increased investments are driven by state targets on energy efficiency for utility companies, with 26 states setting targets, with most of them being achieved - leading to major financial savings, more jobs and reduced CO2 emissions.
It is pleasing to see that this sort of increase in energy efficiency investment will continue in the years ahead - providing evermore opportunities for Enigin Distributors to increase their energy saving businesses as the demand grows for cutting edge technology and programmes from Enigin.
