Enigin Update - Russia Approve new Energy Conservation Plan

THE RUSSIAN government approved an energy conservation program yesterday, revealed Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko.

"The program has been approved in principle. There were some minor comments that the colleagues made concerning technical revisions," Shmatko told reporters at a news briefing.

The minister also predicted a dramatic increase of investments into the field of energy efficiency and conservation.

"We have provided enough conditions to launch large-scale activities in the field," he said.

Shmatko also stressed the commercial benefits of energy efficiency, explaining the financial and economic advantages of reducing energy use and its related costs.

The minister said the government had analysed a number of energy efficiency projects finding many which are likely to pay off over a one-year term.

Enigin Distributors in Russia, and globally, are helping many businesses and organisations conserve energy by monitoring and managing their energy use in real time via Enigin PLC's Eniscope system. Further savings are made using energy saving technology, with the solutions provided by Enigin not only saving energy but also reducing energy bills substantially.

Shatko added that Russian oil production this year will exceed 500 million tons, but he did not foresee any drastic change in the oil market over the following years, guaranteeing the demand for Russia's resources and energy from other nations.
