Enigin Update - Pakistan's Energy Crisis - Action Needed

Pakistan’s former Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dr Gulfraz Ahmed, has said that the country’s energy crisis should be dealt with on emergency basis.

Dr Gulfraz told Radio Pakistan that short term actions like improved energy efficiency and energy saving campaigns should be shifted up a gear and given priority. He said that serious but practical measures are needed to deal with the country’s energy crisis.

He added that by taking these initial measures up to 20 percent energy could be saved, in the long term energy efficiency efforts could produce far more substantial savings, helping with the current energy crisis and future energy needs.

Dr Gulfraz also said that alternate energy sources, such as renewable energy, should also be utilised to generate electricity.
