Enigin Update - Obama Announces Incentives for Energy Efficiency

U.S. PRESIDENT Barack Obama has outlined a plan to offer incentives to commercial buildings that implement energy efficiency measures.

Obama’s “Better Buildings Initiative” announced recently aims to boost energy efficiency by 20 percent in commercial type buildings, including schools, universities, offices, stores, municipal facilities along with commercial buildings.

Obama made the announcement during a visit to the Energy Innovation Hub created by the Department of Energy (DOE) at Pennsylvania State University, revealing that all such buildings listed above will qualify for the incentives.

Obama’s budget, recently submitted to the U.S. Congress, calls for a new programme run through the DOE that will guarantee loans for energy efficiency upgrades at hospitals, schools and other commercial buildings.

Cynthia Schultz, CEO of Sustainability Dashboard Tools, LLC stated: "How these initiatives will affect the professional cleaning industry is uncertain at this time. However, it may encourage more facilities to transfer to Day Cleaning because [reports indicate] it can result in a significant energy savings."

Incentives such as announced by Obama is good news for Enigin Distributors across the States, adding to the opportunities they already have to help local businesses and organisations to become energy efficient and save money and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by installing energy saving technology from Enigin.
