Enigin Update - New Energy Efficiency Code for Buildings

Enigin Update - New Energy Efficiency Code for Buildings

THE INTERNATIONAL Code Council (ICC), which develops commercial and residential building standards, is to vote on proposals that will improve energy efficiency by 30%.

The organisation’s I-Codes are recognised as the US at state and jurisdictional levels and are enforced by a number of U.S. federal agencies.

At its tri-annual meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina, next week ICC members, which include city, county and state building code officials, will discuss the acceptance of a new code that would improve the energy efficiency of new buildings by 30% compared to 2006 levels by 2012.

Promoters of the new code argue that improving the efficiency of new buildings could help owners and tenants save a substantial amount on utility bills each year, and make good financial sense despite higher initial construction costs.

Enigin Distributors can supply leading edge energy efficiency technology from Enigin for new builds and as upgrades to existing buildings, saving businesses substantial amounts on their utility bills.
