Enigin Update - Lugar Fires-off Practical Energy Plan for U.S.
U.S. SENATOR Richard Lugar is pushing a national energy plan which he claims will save billions of dollars by improving energy efficiency and increasing domestic oil production.
Lugar unveiled his 2011 Practical Energy Plan on his Facebook page via a live stream yesterday morning.
The plan looks to break the countries dependence on imported oil while saving the nation and the federal government money in reduced energy costs.
Lugar predicts savings for American's of $33 billion annually through energy efficiency and conservation, partly through subsidies for energy efficiency upgrades to buildings. He adds that such savings would bring an "unexpected windfall."
Andy Fisher, Lugar’s spokesman, commented that with Washington currently sidelining the energy debate due to the prominence given to the budget and the nation's debt, Lugar is proposing his energy plan for when the energy debate re-starts as a vital issue.
Lugar claims his plan is founded on common sense practices - hence “Practical Energy Plan”.
The senator cites the energy education programme in Warren Township Schools in Indianapolis that have saved the corporation $3 million over 10 years, and the proactive energy counseling carried out with schools and towns on energy saving practices which also produced positive results and savings.
In the plan Lugar calls for more U.S. domestic oil production, incentives for energy performance in buildings and state partnership loans for industry.
What has been raised as a concern by commentators is that previous efforts to pass sweeping energy legislation have stalled in the U.S. Congress, primarily due to regional political divides and partisan disagreements over global warming.
Whatever the future of U.S. energy efficiency legislation will be, Enigin and Enigin Distributors will still be helping both the private and public sectors to save energy, costs and CO2 emissions, through implementing energy efficiency solutions from Enigin.
