Enigin Update - Lots of Energy Savings Available from Refrigeration
A NEW guide from the UK’s Carbon Trust lays out easy, no or low cost steps that businesses can take to cut their refrigeration energy bills by up to 20 percent.
The Trust highlight that refrigeration often consume significant amounts of energy, generally up to 50 percent of energy costs for food supermarkets and meat, poultry and fish processing companies. Even small shops could realise 70 percent of their energy use from refrigerated cabinets.
Hence the Carbon Trust is calling on businesses to cut their energy bills by checking their refrigeration systems.
The guide states that installing an efficient chiller, designed for use in a countries temperature conditions with good “part load” capacity, could save businesses with a typical 800kW chiller as much as £25,000 a year.
Richard Rugg, Director of Delivery Services at the Carbon Trust, said: “Any business seeking to cut its costs should be looking at its energy bills and for many companies refrigeration accounts for a large part of those energy costs. Savings of up to 20% are possible with simple no and low cost steps. If your business uses refrigeration, it’s an opportunity that’s too good to miss.”
Enigin Distributors help business to make even more energy savings in their refrigeration systems by installing Enigin plc's CUES (Chiller Unit Energy Saver).
When CUES is installed in conjunction with the thermostat sensor which energises the compressor, it will significantly reduce the frequency of the refrigeration cycles, which will now be based on food temperature rather than more rapidly fluctuating air temperature.
Many Enigin Distributors report that reductions of 30 percent in energy costs and even greater have been enjoyed by their clients. With results from a well-known hotel and restaurant who installed CUES in Australia reducing energy consumption in the refrigeration by 43.23 percent.
