Enigin Update - Kazakhstan President calls for Improved Energy Efficiency
THE Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has called on fellow politicians to give consideration to, and then approve, a bill increasing the nations energy efficiency and energy conservation.
Nazarbayev said to Kazakhstan’s parliamentarians: "I ask you to effectively submit this important issue of energy conservation."
He cited the example of South Korean President, Lee Myung-bak, who paid an official visit to Astana last week, in support of his call for improved national energy efficiency.
"When we spoke about construction of the Balkhash thermal power plant, President Lee Myung-bak said that loss of electricity in networks in Kazakhstan is reaching 20 percent, while in Korea this figure is 4 percent. He said we would also manage without the construction of a new plant if we don’t incur losses in electricity supplies," Nazarbayev explained.
