Enigin Update - Improving Energy Efficiency Benefits All - Chu

STEVEN Chu, U.S. Secretary of Energy, highlighted that the whole community benefits when people improve the energy efficiency of their businesses and homes.

Yesterday at the a summit designed to educate entrepreneurs on how the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE) supports small businesses, Chu explained: "You have more money in your pocket. You created jobs in your local community in making those retrofits and you created investments for the long-term future for yourself, your home and the United States.

"The Department of Energy is doing everything it can to partner with states. We want to give you the tools so you will know exactly what you should be doing for the most efficient energy methods possible."

The summit held at South Carolina’s Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College, and was also addressed by local Congressman Jim Clyburn, who highlighted that Orangeburg "seems to have all that's necessary to be a strong and vibrant economic engine."
Adding that Orangeburg County's jobless rate of 17.7 percent, "Is not acceptable. We must create jobs, and small businesses are the engines to create jobs in this country."

Improving energy efficiency would create new jobs and protect the local economy and hence retain jobs currently held, protecting the populace.
