Enigin Update - Hospital Saves $700,000 a Year Through Energy Efficiencies

PROVIDENCE St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington State USA, and local utility company Puget Sound Energy have combined forces in an effort to save the hospital energy and money - with significant results.

Over the past 10 years, Washington state’s largest investor-owned utility company has awarded almost $2 million in energy efficiency grants to the hospital for their energy saving projects.

Through this support the hospital has reduced its electricity use, along with natural gas, resulting in savings estimated at around $700,000 per year.

The savings are plowed back into the hospital, which is nonprofit, for the improvement of patient care as well as to fund further energy efficiency moves.

For Puget Sound Energy the energy saved by the hospital helps to take pressure off them for the building of expensive new power sources to meet the growing energy demands of the area, proving once again that energy efficiency is the preferred source of energy.

Within the health care industry, Providence St. Peter Hospital is leading the way and the hospital is one of seven in the state to be Energy Star certified for its use of energy efficient appliances and other indoor environmental standards.

Enigin Distributors worldwide are helping large organisations, from hospitals through to university,  to save money through energy efficiency and real-time energy management.
