Enigin Update - EU Provide 70M for Ukraine's Energy Efficiency Programme
THE EUROPEAN Union (EU) is to provide Ukraine €70 million for an energy efficiency programme.
Ukraine’s head of the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving, Mykola Pashkevych, said that the EU’s is providing the funding in support of a national programme for energy efficiency which will run until 2015.
Pashkevych revealed that each of the tranches of funding will be distributed after the Ukraine has complied reached a number of energy efficiency performance indicators.
The funds will be allocated in three tranches: €31 million and two tranches of €16 million each, with another €7 million provided by the EU for technical aid.
According to Pashkevych’s agency, the funds will be given top priority and used finance energy efficiency measures under the state’s targeted economic programme on energy efficiency and the development of renewable energy sources.
