Enigin Update - Energy Efficient Lighting Systems for Government Agencies
AN ENERGY-EFFICIENT lighting system will be installed in the main offices of 35 government agencies as part of the Philippine government’s clean energy project.
Philippines Energy Secretary Jose Rene D. Almendras revealed this week that the initiative will produce and expected annual savings of over US$500,000.
According to Philippine Department of Energy’s estimates, the project will cut consumption across the 35 facilities by 400 megawatts,.
"These [savings] will be in energy-efficient ballasts for lights.....We have to do our part in promoting sustainable consumption of power," said Almendras.
Retrofitting will cost around US$3 million, Almendras said, and will be funded by the Asian Development Bank ($31 million), Association of Southeast Asian Nations clean energy fund ($1.5 million) and the government.
"The next step will be to make cooling equipment more energy-efficient," he concluded.
Enigin Distributors have the technology from Enigin to help local governments and businesses save energy and money on lighting and air-conditioners and already helping local governments in the Philippines to save money through saving energy.
