Enigin Update - Energy Efficiency to Reduce Oil Imports

THE PHILIPPINES government want to see energy efficiency improve as it will reduce the need for oil imports.

Such a reduction will also lower the capital and operating cost of electricity and will consequently provide Filipinos with sufficient electricity at lower possible cost, according to Assistant Secretary Leonilo Lariosa of the Philipines Department of Energy (DOE), who conduced a seminar workshop and a media forum for Boracay Island resort and restaurant owners and the local media respectively.

The activities are part of the DOE's observance of the National Energy Consciousness Month (NECM) during December.

Lariosa said Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EE& C) is being highlighted this year to intensify promotion of the key priority of the current administration's energy reform agenda which is "Energy Access for More".

For companies, Lariosa said increased energy efficiency means more savings and higher profit which will lead to greater company stability, more jobs and  competitive markets.

Lariosa said energy conservation will mean less power consumption and more savings from electricity cost.

"Energy efficiency and conservation also eases environmental stress. Reduced power demand will mean less need for more power plants that still mainly rely on diesel and coal," Lariosa told the Aklan media.

Across the Philippines Enigin Distributors are aiding both the public and private sectors to save energy and money through utilising energy efficiency technology from Enigin.
