Enigin Update - Energy Efficiency Report for the World's Governments

A report on energy efficiency published by Energy Regulators from around the world has been sent to the energy ministers of all the G8 countries, fulfilling a commitment made by energy regulators last year.

The report highlights how energy efficiency is one of the major issues regarding climate change and compiles information gathered globally on regulatory practices, such as legal and financial mechanisms, market-based incentives and consumer related information.

This is the first major report from the International Confederation of Energy Regulators (ICER), who were established towards the end of last year during the fourth World Energy Forum, to help energy regulators worldwide to share and cooperate on the best energy efficient practices.

Lord Mogg, ICER Chair, said:

“This report provides a picture of the wide range of energy efficiency measures and policies being undertaken across the globe. ICER will continue to work to deepen the knowledge base and understanding of issues related to energy regulation and our common energy future.

“We hope policy-makers and energy stakeholders worldwide will benefit from this wide-ranging examination of energy efficiency.”

The commitment made by energy regulators last October at the G8+ summit was to provide governments with a report on regulatory practices about promoting energy efficiency, and this first report is expected to be added to as time progresses and as further research reveals case studies of particularly effective energy efficiency promotions, so all countries can benefit and learn form each others experiences.

Enigin Distributors operate globally and help many businesses and organisations to operate best practices for energy efficiency, reducing their crabon footprint while saving money.
