Enigin Update - Energy Efficiency more than a Wise Business Decision
THE call for energy efficiency and conservation not only benefits business financially but also has advantages for this and future generations.
This is the message that the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) Mindanao wanted the business people of the island to understand in its promoting of energy efficiency.
Approximately, Php 60 billion ($1.37 billion) in electricity costs will be saved in 2011, with the implementation of energy-efficiency measures, Jesus C. Anunciacion, Assistant Director of the Energy Utilisation Management Bureau of the Department of Energy (EUMB-DOE), said.
“Of this amount, at least P12 billion ($225,000) would come from Mindanao areas,” Anunciacion said in today’s opening of the National Training Workshop on Energy Efficiency and Conservation held in the city.
To help achieve this target, DOE, in partnership with DAP has implemented a capacity-building project aimed at training at least 600 private companies on energy management system.
Thus, the 2-day training in the city participated in by some 50-Cagayan de Oro based companies, is part of the series of training-workshops being conducted in 15 areas across the country.
Participants are being instructed on the benefits of energy audits, efficient air conditioning, lighting systems and motor efficiency.
Alan Cajes, Managing Director of the Center for Sustainable Human Development of DAP said “It is very important to reach out to these sectors whose energy consumption level is very high.”
He added that when companies engage in energy efficiency and conservation, there is a subsequent increase in their levels of productivity and profitability.
“Avoidance of wastages, like unnecessary energy consumption, is an indicator of a higher level of productivity,” Cajes said.
Beyond economics, what must also be emphasized is how less energy consumption means burning less fossil fuels, which translates into lower greenhouse gas emissions
.
“Energy efficiency and conservation, therefore, results in triple bottomline: increased profit, motivated people and cleaner planet,” Cajes emphasized.
Enigin are helping many businesses in the Philippines to save on costs as well as reducing greenhouse gas emissions via their network of Enigin Distributors.
These Distributors supply intelligent energy efficiency controls for lighting, air-con, refrigeration, motor control and overall energy management and control with Enigin Plc's Eniscope system.
