Enigin Update - Energy Efficiency instead of Carbon Cap
IN THE absence of a U.S. national policy to put a cap on carbon emissions more emphasis needs to be put on energy efficiency, according to energy and environmental experts.
Energy efficiency advocates reckon the potential benefits to the environment, the economy and balance sheets cannot be ignored.
In a 2007 study estimates were made stating that the U.S. could make over $1.2 trillion in electricity savings by investing just $520 billion in energy efficiency measures, up to and including 2020.
Other benefits also accrue from concentrating on energy efficiency, particularly in the current financial turmoil. Businesses can preserve and protect profits by becoming energy efficient, reducing utility bills substantially by using the right energy saving strategies.
Enigin Distributors have a range of energy saving solutions to suit all private and public sector requirements, from real-time energy management through to simple refrigeration control. Enigin Distributors are also finding increasing interest in the products and solutions they have to offer as more and more organisations realise the importance of energy efficiency.
Also there are increasing job opportunities through expansion of the energy saving industry. The figures are impressive, as an example, the Green Bay Pressgazette reports that a 2009 report by the Energy Center of Wisconsin revealed that Wisconsin alone could create 7,000 to 9,000 jobs by 2012, while generating $900 million in savings, all through tripling the states investment in energy efficiency.
Under President Barack Obama's administration efforts have been made to try and kick-start energy efficiency, which many claim is particularly important without a carbon cap. The federal government set aside $16.8 billion in economic recovery act money for energy efficiency, building retrofits, research and development and renewable energy projects among other actions.
The purpose of this sort of investment is economic and environmental, it boosts the energy saving industry, which then boosts energy efficiency providing vital savings, creating jobs and reducing green house gas emissions - quickly proving to be a “no brainer “ for most decision makers.
