Enigin Update - Energy Awards Highlights Energy Efficiency

A TOTAL of 32 Indian industrial sectors have received a 2010 National Energy Conservation Award today, which is National Energy Conservation Day - providing Indian ministers a chance to highlight energy efficiency.

The awards were given by the Indian Union Minister of Power Sushil Kumar Shinde for their achievements in the conservation of energy.

Speaking at the awards ceremony in New Delhi, Mr Shinde took the opportunity to focus on energy efficiency. He said that efforts should be made ensuring the efficient use of available resources in order to manage the demand and supply of energy.

Shinde underlined the need for using energy efficiency technology, while the state level Minister of Power, Bharatsinh Solanki said that the government has set a target of achieving savings of 5 percent of energy consumption by way of energy efficiency measures.

Highlighting some of the measures, Solanki said that energy conservation and Demand Side Management (DSM) is being given high priority.

He added that an Agriculture DSM programme has been initiated to reduce energy demand in the agriculture sector as the sector consumes about 30 percent of the total electricity, with most energy demand coming from pumps leading to the fitting of energy efficient measures for motors on pumps.

Enigin Distributors in India and globally have exclusive access to leading edge energy saving technology from Enigin, including their iMEC range of motor controllers which can substantially save energy on AC induction motors and Eniscope Real-time and Analytics allowing you to see your energy use.
