Enigin Update - Encouragement for Philippine Energy Efficiency

PHILIPPINES Senator Edgardo J. Angara has emphasised that the country needs to be more canny with regards to energy usage and consumption.

He also stated the need for a better energy programme to benefit both the providers and the consumers.

“Now that we’re facing a new year, it’s time for the government to address the nation’s energy-related concerns such as a possible shortage, high prices and the rising demand for energy that goes hand-in-hand with development,” said Angara.

Angara’s Senate Bill, the Energy Efficiency and Conservation bill, seeks to establish a framework for a more effective Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EEC) Programme geared towards encouraging collaborations among organisations and upholding existing laws on energy.

“It is essential for the country to attain self-sufficiency through maximising its resources and maintaining their sustainability. We must answer the increasing energy demands of our nation without depleting our resources and adding to the burdens of the consumers,” explained Angara.

The Filipino Department of Energy (DOE) shall be in charge of the overall EEC programmes and activities. The DOE is also tasked to consult and coordinate with other government units, private companies and non-government organisations in the implementation of the new energy policies and disseminating the information to the public.

Enigin Distributors in the Philippines are busy helping businesses and governmental departments to save energy already but will be pleased to see further emphasis on energy efficiency across the country - boosting awareness will allow them to distribute and install even more of Enigin Plc's energy saving technology.
