Enigin Update - Emissions Reduction from Energy Saving for Taiwan
TAIWAN’S government’s commitment to saving energy and reducing emissions has reduced CO2 releases by 5.14 million metric tons so far of this year, revealed Premier Wu Den-yih yesterday.
Wu said the figure, for the first three quarters of the year, represents a 4-percent fall in energy intensity, the largest reduction over the same period in 20 years. Statistics show that Taiwan’s economic growth is gradually decoupling from energy consumption, he added.
“All ministries should continue to apply energy-saving concepts when formulating policy and make it a priority to promote plans that contribute more to cutting carbon emissions,” Wu said.
In addition to reducing carbon generated from traditional energy sources, the government is dedicated to developing alternative energy, the Ministry of Economic Affairs said.
Other government initiatives underway include launching energy-saving programs for offshore islands, offering technical support to help companies’ reduce carbon emissions and building green transportation infrastructure, the ministry said.
According to the MOEA, these efforts also helped domestic green industries prosper. “In the first 11 months of the year, the output value of the green energy sector increased NT$120 billion ($3.93 billion) over last year to reach NT$340 billion, creating 18,000 new jobs in the industry,” officials said.
Enigin Distributors in the region are enabling commerce, industry and the public sector to get control of their energy demand, reducing costs and emissions, by installing Eniscope Real-time and Analytics from Enigin. Eniscope allows decision makers to see and easily understand what energy they are using, what it is costing and what greenhouse gas emissions are being produced.
Enigin Plc's Eniscope also highlights where energy saving actions can produce the biggest savings.
