Enigin Update - Danish EU Presidency Wants to Move Fast on Energy Efficiency

DANISH Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt was in European parliament yesterday to present the Danish EU presidency's six-month working programme, including sustainability and energy efficiency.

Thorning-Schmidt revealed that she thinks the European Union (EU) should retain a leading role as a green economy, and want to see movement on the energy efficiency directive.

One of the main priorities of the Danish Presidency is "green growth", but how will the presidency convince other countries to invest in green technology at a time of economic crisis?

Thorning-Schmidt answered the question: "A lot of member states are concerned about energy efficiency and energy security, and of course a solution is to move fast in adopting the directive on energy efficiency.

“We need the new (green]) technologies....Don't forget the 20 million jobs that are connected to the environment. I think we should be happy that we have managed to have a leading role in this area and our job is to make sure that we keep that leading role," she said.

Enigin Distributors across Europe are already enabling commerce, industry and the public sector to improve energy efficiency within their facilities by installing and utilising products and solutions from Enigin - all leading to reduced energy use, energy costs and CO2 emissions - helping their mother nations to reach currently set targets.
