Enigin Update - China to Step-Up Building Energy Efficiency Renovations
CHINA Daily reveals that a legislative report says China is going to accelerate building renovations to improve the energy-efficiency of even more structures.
The report deals with the implementation of the Energy Conservation Law, and has been submitted to the National People's Congress’ Standing Committee, China's top legislature, during the bi-monthly session that ran from Wednesday to Friday last week.
The report also reveals that further efforts are needed for improved energy-efficient in government buildings and large public facilities.
China Daily also states that several other measures are also proposed in the report to conserve energy, including capping total energy consumption, executing technological upgrades, and giving a boost to the service and other clean industries.
The report states that China needs to strive to raise the service sector's value-added contribution to its gross domestic product (GDP) to 47 percent by 2015, compared to the share of 43 percent in 2010.
According to the report, local governments are going to be held accountable for controlling energy consumption in their areas of administration, with local enterprises subject to regular energy use evaluations.
