Enigin Update - China Considers Regional Emission Targets
IN AN EFFORT to reach its carbon intensity reduction goal China is considering imposing regional emissions targets, according to a report from Reuters.
The Chinese government aims to reduce its carbon intensity, the amount of CO2 produced per unit of gross domestic product, by 40-45 percent below 2005 levels by 2020.
In 2010 the government actually turned off the power to some industries in order to reach their targets for the previous five-year plan, 2006-2010.
Instead of using such drastic measures, for the next five-year plan, which has yet to haves its targets finally confirmed, the Chinese government is expected to use market mechanisms, such as carbon trading, to reduce emissions.
Decision makers in commerce and industry often turn to their local Enigin Distributor for energy efficiency technology. Whether its lighting, air-con, refrigeration or motor controllers Enigin have the solutions to help reduce emissions, energy demand and hence energy costs.
