Enigin Update - Brazilian Energy Efficiency Projects Save $1.3 Billion

FROM March 2008 to December 2011, the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) calculated 914 energy efficiency projects which produced energy savings of approximately 2.06 million MWh a year.

The various project projects, with investments of about R$2.4 billion ($1.3 billion), include initiatives related to municipal power management and cogeneration amongst others.

The savings from the projects are equivalent to the consumption of 1 million consumer units per year. In addition, the execution of the projects has reduced demand at peak hours (between 6pm and 9pm) at approximately 705,800 kilowatts (kW), which contributed to reduce the need for investments in expanding the supply.

This proves the importance to the environment and the economy of energy efficiency - the saving on waste and financially are huge plus the reduction in wear and tear on equipment and the reduction in the need for major capital investment in new power generation.

Enigin Distributors globally are helping many countries, such as Brazil, to reduce their energy demand by helping the public and private sectors to manage and monitor their energy use in real-time, as well as using other strategies and technology from Enigin to reduce waste and energy costs.
