Enigin Update - $27 Million for Alberta's Energy Efficiency Projects
$27.2 MILLION Canadian Dollars will be split amongst six companies in Alberta, Canada, as provisional funding to reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions through energy efficiency.
The Canadian Climate Change and Emissions Management Corp. (CCEMC) Chairman Eric Newell revealed in a statement: "Supporting industry's efforts to improve energy efficiency is key to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Alberta.
"These projects are important both because of the impact they have on reducing emissions and because of the significant financial contribution that is being made by industry leaders province-wide."
The CCEMC is a not-for-profit organization with a mandate to establish or provide funding for initiatives to reduce GHG emissions. They invest money collected in penalties for violations of the province’s rules on GHG emissions.
Combined, the projects are estimated to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by about 3.2 megatonnes over 10 years. This reduction would be similar to removing more than 64,000 cars off the road every year for 10 years.
Money for such programmes is sourced from the Climate Change and Emissions Management Fund and made available to the CCEMC by the Government of Alberta through a grant agreement. Funds can only be spent on initiatives and other measures related to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving the ability to adapt to climate change.
Enigin Distributors in Canada are already aiding many corporations, companies and public sector organisations to become energy efficient, reducing energy costs, usage and GHG emissions through using energy saving solutions from Enigin.
