Enigin Update - $2.3 Trillion Indian Energy Efficiency Plan
INDIA is to spend $2.3 trillion as a boost its energy sector by 2030 through improving energy efficiency and the use of clean technology which will help the country balance growth with environmental aims.
India needs to continue burning cheaper fossil fuel to be able to expand the reach of electricity to half of its one-billion-plus population who are without power, they realise that relying on conventional energy alone is unsustainable as reserves deplete, costs rise and the environment is harmed.
B.K. Chaturvedi, a member of Planning Commission that charts India's growth path, told news agency Reuters that with India being the world's third-worst CO2 emitter means it is crucial that they shift to a greener, environmentally friendly economy.
"We should develop this in the context of a two-pronged strategy: The first is improving energy efficiency, and the second is changing the mix of the energy which we consume," Chaturvedi said.
He added that India plans to spend $2.3 trillion on the energy sector by 2030.
"Some of it will be toward energy consumption, but a lot of it will go toward improving energy efficiency and improving the composition of energy," Chaturvedi said. adding, "This cost will have to be borne by the economy."
Enigin Distributors in India have helped many businesses and organisations to reduce their green house gas emissions, reduce energy wastage and save money through application of leading-edge energy efficiency technology from Enigin.
