Energy saving business opportunities set to emerge in Taiwan
Business opportunities in the energy saving sector in Taiwan are set to arise following the enactment of a bill that is aimed at promoting renewable energy development in the country.
According to reports from the government, the enactment of the Statute for Renewable Energy is projected to result in around 30 billion Taiwan dollars ($937 million) worth of investment.
Yeh Hui-ching, the director of the ministry of economic affairs' bureau of energy, is quoted by a local newspaper as stating that the passage of the bill has brought a new dawn to the country.
"It means that in the future, the development and application of renewable, pollution-free sources of energy that produce low amounts of carbon-dioxide emissions will be given priority in terms of low-carbon energy development in the country, " Mr Yeh is quoted as saying by the Taiwan Times.
Investment in renewable energy production as well as incentives to local consumers to install renewable energy products are some of the main focus points of the statute.
