Energy firms move to tap into CRC business opportunities

Energy firms move to tap into CRC business opportunities Energy-saving business opportunities have been spotted by major power companies, which are reportedly moving to tap into new channels for making money as consumers become more aware of their carbon footprint.

This has been highlighted by an article in endsreport.com, which states that many energy operators in the UK are achieving this by using the carbon reduction commitment (CRC) guidelines.

According to the website, the firms that appear to have made great advances in this area are RWE Npower and EDF, which feature instructions on how consumers and businesses can comply with CRC.

Some of the energy companies such as RWE are encouraging their customers to install smart meters and other technologies that can enable them to measure how high their carbon footprint is and implement appropriate measures to reduce it.

The website reported that Eon and Scottish Power are yet to have such information on their sites but are planning to get in touch with their corporate customers urging them to implement CRC.

CRC is a legally binding UK-wide climate change and energy-saving scheme targeted at large business and public sector organisations.
