Dutch bank sets up fund to support energy saving businesses
Individuals eager to explore green living business opportunities are set to benefit from a new fund aimed at promoting and supporting small green companies in the UK.
Launched by Dutch ethical bank Triodos, the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) Green Fund will invest directly in UK-based sustainable companies that hold strong growth potential.
According to fund manager Gareth Zahir-Bill, this is the right time for investment to be made in green companies in sectors such as renewable energy generation and technology, energy efficiency, sustainable living and low carbon products.
"Despite the challenging economic climate, sectors such as renewable energy, energy efficiency and waste recycling are resilient in the current recession and are often underpinned by government support mechanisms," he explained.
"These sectors provide excellent investment opportunities that will allow us to back the UK's future sustainability pioneers."
Chancellor of the exchequer Alistair Darling recently stated that supporting green-focused businesses will be key to spreading prosperity due to the potential the renewable sector holds.
