The Enigin Story

Enigin is more than simply a Public Limited Company with a formidable development plan backed by an Asset Management Group – it’s about people – and the experience they bring to the table.

At Enigin we believe that “People are the primary determinant in the success of any business” Most of the original foundation team at Enigin have worked together for decades either in; The Energy Saving Business… Electronic Engineering… Innovative Product Development or Global Marketing Initiatives.

Consider some of the milestones achieved by the Enigin team: -

1974

Two of our Founder Directors Ian Wrigley FRSA and Eddie Delaney work together at AMOCO against a background of surging oil prices and the government backed ‘Save It’ campaign. It was also the year that an RSA report examined the use of energy resources, pre-dating popular modern concerns about the environment.

1982

Installation within the UK of the very first, ‘Digistat’ microchip based energy saving controller, originally developed by American Stabilis. Following hundreds of successful installations these became a benchmark for a new generation of digital energy management systems.

1984

Technical development and national launch of the trademarked FuelBoss range of software driven microcontroller systems successfully installed in thousands of factories, hotels, nursing homes and private residences across the UK.

1986

Launch of the UK wide ‘Fuel Saving Crusade’, as captured on national television, planned to coincide with the Governments ‘Get More For Your Monergy’ energy awareness campaign.

1987

Approval for the exclusive ‘own branding’ and nationwide distribution of the Centroller 3000 developed by Smiths Industries – allegedly one of the rare occasions such a concession had been made in the tradition of this 100-year-old company.

1991

Development and production, of the world’s first and then only truly intelligent single phase AC motor controller. This was to become the forerunner in a range of dynamic fixed speed motor controllers that were ultimately sold commercially to Cadbury’s Schweppes, Coca Cola, Gillette, Hitachi, Jaguar and numerous other blue chip companies.

1992

Formation and launch of an international manufacturing and marketing company with a mission to deliver turn-key motor control solutions to a waiting global market. Early success was achieved following an Energy Audit undertaken by ETSU, which led to negotiating terms and coordinating the installation of over 4000 motor controllers across 600 sites for the UK national chain of Dillons convenience stores on behalf of one Distributor.

1995

Complex control algorithms successfully transferred to a range of industrial motor controllers developed in conjunction with The British Technology Group – achieving what many said “can’t be done”. Enigin’s Commercial Director, Troy Wrigley and Operations Director, Tim McMahon work together in the technology division.

1996

Invention and actualisation of the Genesis range of heating control systems successfully installed to high acclaim in numerous diverse applications including British Rail. This was also the year that EnergyMaps was first conceptualised.
The original documentation is now archived for posterity.

1998

Writing, presenting and producing of ‘Winning More Customers’ for Richmond Training, hailed as “the ultimate formula for boosting sales”. Utilised since as an in-house training facility by Barclays Bank plc, MacDonald Hotels plc, Norwich Union, British Glass, Tuffnells Parcels, Anglo Group plc… to name but a few. This programme now forms the bedrock for the training of all Enigin Partners and Sales Consultants. It uses an energy saving solution as a business model.

2001

Director of Psychology Anne Ellis MSc, CFCIPD began the development of PeopleMaps, after having successfully built a number of high-growth companies by focusing on using psychological theory and practice designed to improve individual and team effectiveness. The same underlying principles now incorporated in Enigin's PeopleMaps profiles have been applied successfully to both public and blue chip private sector corporations.

2004

Enigin Sales Director Ben Willcocks joins the team as International Business Manager working alongside Troy Wrigley and Tim McMahon. The ensuing success, of which they were major contributors, resulted in the company receiving the highly prestigious ‘Queens Award for International Trade’. Meanwhile, Enigin Executive Lindsey Davis ran the international sales office for ‘Laser’ when their product was chosen, against stiff competition, for the 2008 Olympics.

2006

Enigin is legally incorporated as a Public Limited Company.
The project development team actualise EnergyMaps, PeopleMaps and Nucleus.
Luke Bazeley joins Enigin as Technical Manager having overseen large scale electro-mechanical installations, cost reduction re-engineering programmes and telemetry control systems for companies like Tesco and Imerys.
His work included designing early warning flood defence systems for The Environment Agency.

2007

Opening of the Enigin HQ and Marketing Suite in the Cathedral City of Truro servicing Europe and the Middle East, our International Sales Offices in the Chrysler Building, Manhattan, New York servicing the Americas, and in the Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia servicing the Far East and Australasia.
